Pepperball New Non-Lethal Options For Law EnforcementPepperBall Rolls Out New Non-Lethal Options for Law Enforcement: PPC Carbine and ‘Blast’ – SHOT Show 2022 Defense company PepperBall was showing off two new products at SHOT Show 2022 designed
Defense company Pepperball was showing off two new products at SHOT Show 2022 designed to give law enforcement more non-lethal options when dealing with suspects and inmates.
The Pistol Patrol Carbine (PPC) offers better reliability and accuracy than previous Pepperball rifles. Accuracy improvements come from the new honed barrel, and company reps said users can expect to hit point of aim out to about 20 meters.
Reliability comes from the new CO2 system. Previous models of Pepperball rifles were not unreliable, but officers worried that a refillable air tank would lose air or be affected by temperature.
To mitigate that concern, the PPC uses a disposable, one-time-use CO2 tank that can be stored for up to three years at virtually any temperature. Once officers begin using the tank, they can fire up to 130 of Pepperball’s .68 caliber, chemical-filled rounds before running out of juice.
The CO2 canisters are inexpensive and readily available at major online retailers.
The PPC also comes with a full-length Picatinny rail, an M-LOK handguard, adjustable iron sights and stock, and a 10-round magazine.
Pepperball was showing off another new non-lethal product called the “Blast.”
The Blast is a cylinder filled with a chemical agent that can be deployed from up to 10 feet away. The payload equals three Pepperball shots worth of powder and it can be used between -20°F to 120°F.
The product is also relatively inexpensive. Company reps said the product comes in a pack of 10 (2 inert, 8 live) for between $90 and $130.
Note: There is some debate in the law enforcement community about the use of the term “non-lethal.” This is the term Pepperball uses to describe its products.
